Treating Pet Skin Conditions
A number of chronic and inflammatory skin diseases can afflict the dogs and cats of Pleasant Hill, but some are more prevalent than others. Allergies, bacterial infections, fungal infections, persistent itching, skin parasites, and hair loss are just some of the prime examples.
Our pet dermatologists can differentiate between the various conditions associated with pet skin conditions. This allows for a more accurate diagnosis and the most effective treatment.
What to Expect at Your Pet’s Veterinary Dermatology Appointment
Our veterinarians will work to determine the cause of your pet's discomfort and will recommend treatment based on their needs.
Examination & Diagnosis
At the beginning of the appointment, our vet dermatologist will review your pet's history to aid in the diagnosis of their condition. Next, they will use the diagnostic tools at our in-house laboratory to establish the source of your pet’s skin condition.
Treatment Planning
Once the cause of your pet's skin condition has been determined, we will develop a plan to treat it. Veterinary dermatology treatment may include prescription medication, shampoo/conditioner, an ear flush, allergy vaccines or simple changes to your pet’s environment.
